NITE Ride

NITE RIDE covers areas of campus not serviced by shuttle-um evening routes.

This additional Shuttle-UM service runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. when the university is open and services the immediate campus community. Between 5:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m., NITE Ride will pick up and drop off from designated NITE Ride locations.

From 2:30 a.m. until 7:30 a.m., rides will be provided to and from anywhere in the NITE ride service area (shown on map below).

how to request a nite ride

Students can request a NITE Ride online or using the Transloc Rider app on their phones and logging in with their UID. From here students can select their pick up and drop off locations by dragging the map (not the pin).

what you should know

  • You must be in your pick-up location when you request a NITE Ride.
  • Mornings are NITE Ride’s busiest time. Give yourself at least 30 minutes to get where you’re going.

  • Your pick up time may jump around, as the NITE Ride algorithm updates with every ride scheduled. NITE Ride also prioritizes picking people up over dropping people off. You may find that a group who gets on after you, gets off before you as the algorithm updates with a new route showing the fastest way to pick up and drop off the most people.

  • If you need immediate assistance or feel unsafe, you can call for a walking escort from the UMD Police Auxiliary 301-405-3555. They will get to you as quickly as possible and get you where you need to go safely.
