YOU’RE GOING PLACES, WE’LL HELP YOU GET THERE.

We’ve created this resource, just for you, to remind you of all the ways we’re here to help.

SHUTTLE-UM

Our Shuttle-UM service is here to help you navigate campus and the surrounding area. The schedules for all our regular Shuttle-UM routes can be explored on our website and include when the bus operates, where it goes and where the bus is in real time.

Check out our supplemental service:

NITE Ride is an on-demand service that offers a way for Terps to get around campus from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. daily when the university is open.
Paratransit is a curb-to-curb, on-demand and subscription service available to students, faculty, staff, and visitors with permanent or temporary disabilities to help them navigate campus.

We recommend downloading the Transit app and the Terp Ride App so you can schedule a NITE Ride.

Out-of-state student? Our break transportation guide helps you navigate your way home for Thanksgiving, winter and spring breaks. With directions to local transit hubs, airports and train stations, this resource is the perfect way to plan your trip.

BIKEUMD AND E-SCOOTER

Biking is one of the best ways to get around campus and UMD was named a Gold Level Bicycle Friendly University by the League of American Cyclists for its wealth of campus cycling resources. To maintain these resources, all bikes on campus must be registered through the Bike Index. E-scooter/e-bike registration follows a different process.

Once you’ve registered your bike and read through our campus regulations, you’ll be ready to check out some of the resources we offer including, self-serve repair stations, classes to make you a more confident rider, group rides, the RecWell Bike Shop and more!

Don’t forget to take a minute and read through our bike safety information and our e-scooter/e-bike safety information.

SMART COMMUTE

UMD Smart Commute is the university’s sustainable transportation program. In order to meet the university’s carbon neutrality goal by 2050, we’re promoting sustainable methods of transportation including walking, biking, carpooling and using transit.

Sign up for the Smart Commute online platform where you can find all your sustainable transportation options as well as track the benefits of a sustainable commute. Learn more about Smart Commute.

PARKING

Students of any class standing may register to park on campus. Whether you’re living on campus, in College Park or commuting from further away, we offer permit options that can work with different living and learning arrangements.  For the 2023 - 2024 academic year, freshman resident students may register to park on campus without applying for a freshman exception.

The date and time for when students may register to park may be found on our student parking information page
