Shuttle-UM Transit Driver - (student)

JOIN THE DRIVING FORCE OF MARYLAND!

The Shuttle-UM Transit System consists of student and full-time staff who ensure safe and dependable transportation for the UMD Community. The Student Transit Driver position includes paid training, flexible hours, and opportunities for advancement.

Student Transit Drivers must complete the Shuttle-UM CDL Training Program  during Summer 2026.

Graphic Design Assistant - (student)

JOIN OUR COMMUNICATIONS TEAM!

Under the direction of the Graphics Coordinator, the Graphic Design Student assists in creating design solutions that will aid the effective dissemination of departmental information and marketing strategies. The Graphic Design Student will conceptualize designs and develop a wide range of print and web-based communication materials.

This position also represents the Department of Transportation Services at University-sponsored events on an as-needed basis alongside DOTS Marketing Assistants.

$16.50/hr; 10-15 hours/week; Part-time

Maintenance Assistant (student)

The mission of Shuttle-UM student-operated Transit System is to provide safe and dependable transportation to University students, faculty, and staff, and to function as a learning environment for students.

Maintenance Assistants will assist in performing routine maintenance on all Shuttle-UM and DOTS vehicles. This non-CDL position is an essential component to the Shuttle-UM Transit System. Maintenance Assistants work closely with Dispatchers, Trainers and all Drivers to ensure a safe fleet and system.
 

$16.50/hr; min 12 hours/week; Part-time

Parts Assistant (student)

The mission of Shuttle-UM student-operated Transit System is to provide safe and dependable transportation to University students, faculty, and staff, and to function as a learning environment for students.

Parts Assistants will assist with parts coordination and handling. The Support Staff position of Service Parts Assistant is an essential component of the Shuttle-UM Maintenance Department.  Parts employees are hired as the backbone of the Maintenance Fleet, working closely with other Maintenance Assistants, Parts Coordinators and Shop Supervisors to ensure efficiency.
 

$16.50/hr; min 12 hours/week; Part-time

Sustainable Transportation Assistant (student)

JOIN OUR SUSTAINABILITY TEAM

The Sustainable Transportation Assistant will support the operations, planning, and evaluation of the UMD Smart Commute program, BikeUMD program, and other DOTS Sustainability Team initiatives.

The UMD Smart Commute program works to engage, encourage, evaluate, and educate the campus community about sustainable transportation policies and programs. Sustainable modes of transportation in the purview of this program include but are not limited to: carshare, bikeshare, carpooling, public transit, biking, walking, electric vehicles, and teleworking to support our campus community of over 50,000 commuters on and off campus.
