Shuttle-UM Student Transit Driver

JOIN THE DRIVING FORCE OF MARYLAND!

The Shuttle-UM Transit System consists of student and full-time staff who ensure safe and dependable transportation for the UMD Community. The Student Transit Driver position includes paid training, flexible hours, and opportunities for advancement.

Student Transit Drivers must complete the Shuttle-UM CDL Training Program during Summer 2026.

Prerequisites:

• Currently enrolled University of Maryland student 
• Have a good driving history of no more than 2 points 
• Have or be able to obtain a Full State of Maryland License 
• Ability to commit to two consecutive semesters of driving upon completion of the CDL Training Program
• Must be able to complete CDL Training over the course of Summer 2026
• Ability to maintain a minimum of 8 weekly driving hours
• Must hold U.S. citizenship or be a H2-B, H2-A, and E-2 visa holder

Required Qualifications:

• Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with a customer-service mindset 
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work effectively with a team 
• Demonstrated willingness to learn and grow

Responsibilities:

• Attend a pre-semester shift pick  
• Maintain a minimum of 8 weekly driving hours 
• Attend a New Driver Meeting 
• Adhere to Shuttle-UM Policies and Procedures
