How To Use Our Blink Charging Stations:
  1. Pay for your charge session with either the Blink Charging App or your credit/debit card, Apple Pay, or Google Wallet at the Blink charging station kiosk after you’ve paid for parking as a permit-holder or as a visitor.
  2. Avoid idle fees by unplugging and relocating your vehicle within 15 minutes of your charge session ending.

*Parking costs are not included. Non-permit holders should use ParkMobile to pay for parking.

**Once your charge session has ended, you are allotted a 15-minute grace period before the $3 per 15-minute idle fee is charged to your card ($24 daily maximum). Idle fees are applied to discourage non-charging occupancy and to support the availability of this amenity for the wider community.

Charging Stations FAQ

1. I have a problem with my payments or accounts

Who do I contact? 

Report any issues with your payment or account via:

  • Blink’s 24/7 hotline: (888) 998-2546, or 

Email: support@blinkcharging.com

2. I see a $10 pending charge on my credit card statement. 

What is this?

  • This is a temporary $10 pre-authorization charge applied to those paying by credit/debit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay directly at the station instead of going through the Blink Charging App.
  • This temporary charge is automatically removed from your bank statement as soon as your charge session has been completed. 
  • Blink Charging App users will have no pre-authorization charges applied to their charged sessions. 
3. A station needs repair.

Who do I contact?

Please report any stations in need of repair to DOTS at transportation@umd.edu with:

  • The broken station number and location

Any relevant photos or screenshots  

4. Where can I find an available station

In the Blink Charging App, you can find a map and location of all Level 2 charging stations including: 

  • Offline and online status
  • Charging status

5. How do I pay to park while charging? 

To park at a charging station you should:

  • Have a valid UMD parking permit OR
  • Pay for parking with the ParkMobile app, at a paystation, or by texting “PARK” to 77223.
