OCTOBER IS SAFETY MONTH
In real life, there’s no reset button. This safety month, take your time and make smart moves. Whether you’re biking, scooting or power walking to class, following the rules helps everyone get where they’re going safely.
Level up campus road safety today:
- Review the safety guidelines for driving, biking, scooting and walking on campus. Pro-tip for drivers: Power up by checking the campus bike lane guidelines before you hit the road.
- Check out events, group rides and giveaways all October long.
- Take the pledge–unlock the achievement of safer roads for all!

WABA Bicycle Skills Class

Learn to navigate the roadways and trails around campus with the experts from WABA, the Washington Area Bicycle Association! This class is perfect for those who are still a bit wobbly on a bicycle and who seek hands-on guidance to pedal with confidence. All ages and abilities are welcome. It’s never too late to learn a new skill! Loaner bicycles and helmets available with RSVP.

Want to skip the lines on election day? Join us as Early Voting kicks off on Thursday, October 22 for a beginner-friendly bike and scooter ride to the College Park Community Center, an early voting site for Prince George's County registered voters. Fall Foliage Ride/Lantern Making

Fall is one of the most beautiful times in Maryland with the changing colors of the trees and the crisp, cool air. Join BikeUMD, biodiversity expert Juanita Choo and the LBGTQ+ Equity Center as we take a beginner-friendly bicycle ride through the trees and trails around campus to learn about the flora and fauna that surround us.
