The Department of Transportation Services honors the mission and values of the University of Maryland by providing safe, cost effective, and innovative services which anticipate the needs of our campus community and constituents as they relate to accessing institutionally supported facilities and destinations.

Drive our smaller NITE Ride and Paratransit Vehicles! The Shuttle-UM NITE Ride service is overnight, on-demand service that serves the campus seven days a week. The Shuttle-UM Paratransit Services is the DOTS subscription, on-demand service that provides curb-to-curb transportation for individuals with disabilities. This position includes paid training, flexible hours, and opportunities for advancement. The Student Demand Response (NITE Ride & Paratransit) Driver position does not require a Commercial Driver’s License.

PREREQUISITES
  • Currently enrolled University of Maryland student
  • Have a good driving history of no more than 2 points
  • Have or able to obtain a Full State of Maryland License
  • Ability to maintain a minimum of 8 weekly driving hours
  • Must be able to work overnight any time between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 8 a.m. during the Spring 2026 Semester.
     
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with a customer-service mindset
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work effectively with a team
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and grow
     
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Attend a pre-semester shift pick
  • Maintain a minimum of 8 weekly driving hours
  • Attend a New Driver Meeting
  • Adhere to Shuttle-UM Policies and Procedures

COMPENSATION

$16.50/HR
