WHAT IS THE COST FOR A PARKING PERMIT? IS THIS COST INCLUDED IN MY HOUSING LICENSE FEE? Individuals must purchase a campus resident student parking permit for Lot 18, and will pay the Resident Rate, which is offered as both a semester permit and an annual permit.
IF I PURCHASE A RESIDENT PERMIT, CAN I PARK ANYWHERE ELSE ON CAMPUS? Yes, you may also park in Lot 4, the designated student overflow lot.
AM I ABLE TO PURCHASE A SECOND PERMIT IF I WANT TO PARK NEAR MY CLASSES AS WELL? No, each student can only purchase one parking permit (valid for your assigned lot and the student overflow lot). However, many of our parking lots are unrestricted after 4 p.m. Restrictions for individual lots can be found on the UMD Parking Map. Discovery House is served by Shuttle-UM, and accessible by Veo shared micromobility.
AS A RESIDENT, AM I GUARANTEED A PARKING SPACE IF I LIVE AT DISCOVERY HOUSE? No, there are approximately 200 parking spaces available in Lot 18 at Discovery House which has the capacity to house more students.
WHAT IF THE PARKING AT DISCOVERY HOUSE FILLS? WHAT ARE MY OTHER OPTIONS? Other on-campus resident lots.
WILL THERE BE PARKING FOR GUESTS/VISITORS AT DISCOVERY HOUSE? Yes! There are 8 visitor parking spaces on site that may be paid via Parkmobile.
WILL THERE BE ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATION AVAILABLE AROUND DISCOVERY HOUSE? Yes! On-site charging in Lot 18b (additional restrictions may apply).
CAN I HAVE AN E-SCOOTER/E-BIKE AT DISCOVERY HOUSE? No, students living in on-campus properties including Discovery House are not permitted to bring electric micromobility vehicles to campus. No electric bicycles are permitted. Please review our regulations for more detail.
