Who can purchase a daily permit?
DOTS will offer daily permits for both commuter students and faculty/staff including Contingent I and Contingent II employees, and individuals with affiliate appointments. 

Are daily permits right for me?
Daily permits are best for those who will park on campus for four or more hours per day, one to two times per week.  In some cases, the daily permit may be cost effective for those parking  up to three times per week.

If you are coming to campus more frequently, we recommend a regular semester or annual parking permit.

If you are coming to campus occasionally for periods less than four hours, we recommend hourly visitor parking in an area controlled by a pay station or parking meter.  These locations officer parking for $3 per hour.

I am currently enrolled in transit benefits and intend to keep them, may I also purchase daily permits?
Yes!  If you plan to continue to use transit but wish to have the flexibility to park occasionally, Daily Permits are a good fit for you.

Purchasing and Receiving Daily Permits

How do I purchase daily permits?
Request a daily permit through by completing this Google Form at least two business days before you need to park.  Permits are available in increments of five and can be paid for through your parking account.

DOTS staff will review your completed request and add the permits to your parking account.  You will then receive an email with information about online payment and instructions for using the permits.

When will I receive the permits?
Daily Permits are digital and based on your license plate,so you will not receive anything to display.  You will simply visit your parking account to activate or use one of your permits on days that you need campus parking.  Uses may be scheduled in advance, and our staff can assist you with scheduling permits over the phone during our business hours (Weekdays 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.)

Can my department buy daily permits for employees, students, and/or visitors to use?
No, departments may not purchase the daily permits for individuals.

Using your daily permits

When do I need to start using daily permits to park on campus?
Employees parking in restricted faculty/staff areas will need to begin using daily permits on August 31, 2020 to avoid being cited. 

Where are daily permits valid?
Daily permits are assigned to a specific lot and are valid in all faculty/staff overflow areas.  These permits may also be used in any area that requires a faculty/staff permit after 4 p.m.

Who decides which lot I am assigned to?
If you have or recently had a faculty/staff permit, you may get daily permits for that lot.  If you have not had a permit before, you will be assigned a lot near your primary work location.  DOTS will make all lot assignments based on availability and demand.

If I decide to switch to a semester or annual permit, will I be able to stay in the lot where my daily permit was valid?

DOTS will work with individuals and departments to make the most appropriate long term assignments when an employee chooses to switch to a semester or annual permit.

Can I park overnight with a daily permit?
Daily permits expire at 11:59 p.m. on the day they were used.  DOTS will work with employees who work overnight to make sure that these permits meet their needs on a case by case basis.

Can daily permits be used with administrative permits, courier permits, etc?
Yes, Faculty/Staff Daily Permits function similar to regular faculty/staff semester or annual permits.  As long as an employee is using a Faculty/Staff Daily permit, they may also use their department’s Courier or Administrative Permits to access additional parking on campus.  

Expiration & Refund Policy

If I don’t use all of my daily permits, can I get a refund?
Daily Permits are non-refundable, however, the value of any unused permits may be applied towards the purchase of a semester or annual permit.

Will daily permits be refunded if the university decides to move to an online only environment at any point during the semester in response to COVID-19 or any other external factor?

When do my daily permits expire?
DOTS will honor daily permits through the 2020-2021 academic year.  A decision regarding use beyond August 2021 will be made and notice will be given to permit holders if there will be a change to the program for the future.
