DOTS offers many accessible parking options.
Accessible parking is available in most campus lots. Please note that all parking spaces in campus lots that begin with a letter or number are restricted to vehicles with a current, valid Campus License Plate Registration (CLPR). This includes all disabled parking spaces within those lots.
DISPLAYING YOUR DISABILITY PLACARD
Please display your current, valid DOTS parking permit/CLPR in conjunction with your state-issued license plates, placard and/or hanging permit when parked on campus.
If you use a state-issued hanging permit, display this permit from your vehicle’s rear view mirror. If applicable, please display your DOTS parking permit on the driver’s side of your vehicle’s dashboard with lot assignment and control number facing the window.
PARKING WITH A UMD CAMPUS PERMIT AND DISABILITY PLACARD
The following parking options are available for individuals who display both a DOTS CLPR and a state-issued disabled parking identification:
- Parking spaces in any un-gated lot that begins with a letter or number, including disabled spaces in these lots. Individuals with campus gate cards may also access designated gated lots.
- Individual metered spaces. You do NOT need to pay for parking.
- Spaces controlled by a multi-space pay station. You are NOT required to pay for parking.
Vehicles displaying disabled parking identification are not valid in fire lanes, move in/out spaces, roadways, loading zones, designated tow-away zones, service, courier, Zipcar, carpool spaces, state vehicle spaces, or any other area not designated as a parking space.
VISITOR PARKING FOR GUESTS WITH DISABILITIES
Visitors and vehicles displaying state-issued disabled parking identification may park in designated visitor spaces, including those that are ADA accessible. Parking in campus lots that begin with a letter or number during restricted hours is not permitted. This includes accessible spaces.
VISITOR SPACE PAYMENT
At individual metered spaces: Guests with disabilities may park at individual metered spaces for twice the amount of time listed on the meter OR four hours, whichever is shorter, and do NOT need to pay for parking during that time.
At pay station spaces: Guest with disabilities may park at any visitor pay station space, including spaces that are marked as ADA accessible. Parking payment is required.
If you are coming to campus for a special event and the existing visitor parking does not meet your needs, please contact the event coordinator to determine if additional arrangements have been made for disabled access.
