Student Applied GIS-BikeUMD Internship

DESCRIPTION

The Department of Transportation Services seeks a motivated student to work with the Bike Coordinator on evaluating bike parking on campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Track and verify the conditions of existing bike parking inventory.
  • Geo-code bikes that are incorrectly parked in order for DOTS to identify target areas for new bike parking facilities.
  • This will involve hands-on work with ArcMap10, which is cutting edge Graphic Information Systems technology. The intern will be responsible for creating and maintaining a geo-coded database at the direction of the Bike Coordinator. A smartphone is required. No previous experience with GIS is required, though it is considered a plus. 

INTERNSHIP TERM

Early October through the Fall Semester. Opportunity to extend in the Spring semester is available.
