Sign Shop Assistant - Student


Position Description

Under the direction of the Sign Shop Specialist & Marketing Coordinator, the Student Sign Shop Assistant will help in the production of prints and signs. This student will keep the Sign Shop and its machines and materials clean and organized for efficient operations. The Student Sign Shop Assistant will aid in, handling all devices within the sign shop, assisting with the production and posting of signs across campus and recycling sign material. This position will learn digital vinyl application techniques and printing ripping software. This position requires a weekly commitment of 10 hours within M-F 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and occasional evening work when requested. Saturday morning advertisement posting will be required once a month during the Fall and Spring semester. This position requires traveling across campus and physical activity that may require lifting of heavy objects not to exceed 40 lbs.

This student must

  • Learn how to operate a printer, laminator and plotter

  • Be able to produce signage with the application of print vinyl/cut vinyl

  • Understanding of printing and ripping software

  • Be able to travel throughout campus to audit signs and advertisements

  • Be clean and organized

  • Be able to cut substrate/signage to a specific measurement

  • Complete other duties as assigned: assist with the fabrication (cutting, folding, stapling, laminating) and distribution of print materials, etc.

  • Work with and take direction from the Marketing Coordinator

  • Assist in the application and removal of decals on walls and vehicles


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Superb attention to detail

  • Have a good eye for design and layout

  • Knowledge on how to use Adobe Illustrator

  • Be clean and organized

  • Be able to follow direction and learn printing software

  • Be a productive employee without continuous supervision
